Meet Toula Livanos, THI’s amazing volunteer that works of solicitating auction items for THI’s New York Gala Silent Auction every year!

Meet Toula Livanos, THI’s volunteer who has worked tirelessly gathering auction items for our last several galas. Her eye for beautiful Greek or Greek inspired pieces has made THI’s Silent Auction the premiere assortment of items the diaspora has ever seen.

Toula was born and raised in New York. Both of her parents are from the island of Chios. She was raised very traditionally, in a home where Greek was the spoken language. Toula attended a Greek Private school from nursery till ninth grade while she visited Greece every summer. That instilled the love and identity for her Greek Hellenistic appreciation. She holds a master’s degree in Marketing from NYU, an MBA from St. John’s University, and a degree in Buying & Merchandising from FIT.

Toula values beauty, and in beauty there is value. She learned that while working at Sotheby’s for 12 years where she worked liaising for clients on various sales assigned in various collectible departments. In Sotheby’s, she built a Greek client base but also met a lot of Greek artists. That’s what triggered her to work for THI’s auction:  to start creating a primary and hopefully secondary market for the Greek art.

Toula admires impresarios like Gertrude Stein, Peggy Guggenheim and Diane Vreeland. Franca Sozzani, whose work has been influential and revolutionary in art and fashion has always been an icon for Toula as well. She also loves the words δημιουργία & συνεργασία (creation & collaboration).

A huge thanks to Toula for all the effort she has put to help THI raise more funds for Greece!
