Theotokos Foundation is a non-profit NGO since 1963 providing special education and therapy services to preschool children from 2,5 to 5 years old and to adolescents from 14 to 20 years old with developmental immaturity, mental developmental disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders. It also provides training and employment rehabilitation to young adults, 20-35 years old and supports their families and intervenes when necessary.

Theotokos vision is to evolve into an exemplary assessment, education and rehabilitation organization, in Greece and Europe, and to have a central and essential role in the creation of a world where persons with intellectual developmental disorders and autism spectrum disorders will have equal rights in life and work. The Foundation has served and supported more than 5,000 beneficiaries during its 52 years of operation. Currently, 370 children and young adults attend daily, of which, about 60 are from poverty-stricken families without social security.

The mission of Theotokos to continuously improve and prepare young adults with intellectual developmental disorders and autism spectrum disorders so that they can live, work and participate in everyday life, was once more proven to be successful when Kimon, a graduate of the Department of Outdoor Maintenance and Gardening, found a job in a special construction industry company through ErgAxia program, which was funded by The Hellenic Initiative through Mazi Gia to Paidi.

Kimon after being educated in real working conditions by an expert consultant of the Foundation, is showing keen interest in his work , he is social, takes initiatives, and constantly tries to improve himself.

With the financial support of The Hellenic Initiative, Theotokos will continue to provide uninterrupted services to the fast-growing graduates, who are seeking employment in Greece.
